S&W K-32 Masterpiece
I have what I believe is a S&W K32 Masterpiece. It doesn't have the model number on the yoke so does that mean it is a pre 1957 model? Also i have seen discussion on other boards that talk about 4 screw and 5 screw models. How do you tell if a K revolver is 4 or 5 screw? Any info is appreciated.

Here are some pics of my K-32 Masterpiece. It is a 5 screw revolver. All assembly numbers match. Thanks for all the info.

Remove #5 from the design it's a 4 screw, then remove #4 it becomes a 3 screw. 1957 is the model # year.

The easiest way for us to answer your question. Is to give us the serial number. Replace the last 2 digits with X's.
The biggest difference between the target and standard "K" frame revolvers. Were the adjustable Patridge type target sights. Specially in the .32 calibers.0 -
The serial number on the yoke is 449XX. The numbers on the bottom of the butt are K 660XX. All of the serial numbers on the different parts of the revolver match including the grips. Thanks for your help 0 -
Forgot to add.....it has the adjustable rear sight 0 -

According to SCSW. It's a pre Model 16. Made in 1948. Quite a desirable and valuable Smith. If factory original, and in VG condition or better.
Please post quality photos,if you can.0 -
I think you hit the jackpot If the picture is your pistol as to the serial you give TWO different numbers and then state the parts are matching Matching the first or second of the two serial numbers [?][?] 0 -
I am out of town on business right now but I will post pictures when I get home. Thanks for all the info guys. 0 -
The number on the yoke is an "assembly number" used to keep parts together at the factory. It is meaningless and untraceable after the gun has been completed, serial numbered and sold. However, since Colts are commonly numbered under the crane, there are a LOT of S&Ws listed on bills of sale and registrations by that assembly number.
The real, legal serial number is the one on the butt, which is repeated on other parts in guns of this age.
S&W has for some time put the serial number on the frame under the yoke because so many of the stocks they use cover the butt.0 -
S/N is also stamped on underside of extractor. 0 -
Ive got one in .22 cal and looked at it after I saw the diagram. Im really confused because mine only has two screws? Any ideas what Im looking at? 0 -
Yes. You are looking at screws No 2 and 3 in the picture.
Nos 4 and 5 are absent and No 1 is hidden by the grip.0
