input mounting scope on 870 rifled barrel 12 ga...

Took a red dot off the Rem 870 12 ga with a rifled barrel. the scope wont line up correctly regarding eye relief using the 4 slots on the barrel tang...

Any suggestions on how to work around the problem? Please advise.

  You might try a receiver bridge. But if you cannot ease the scope forward or back enough to get the proper eye relief, a bridge might not work either. It is a shotgun scope right?

  Not sure what is going on here,,you do have an extended eye relief scope and it won't give you proper eye relief? I took my red dot off and put on a Bushnell 71-3944 3x9 and works well on my H&R.

  Thanks guys. Got a few ideas. May grind a new slot in the tang to get the extra relief wanted. Its just a wee bit short of perfection...[:D]

  I had the same issue with a revolver that I was scoping and I had my shop mill an extra groove on the mount. No issues.

  Thanks Mark G I am using a flat file with a side that matches my grove to make a new slot where needed for good eye relief.
