Glock pre ban mags question
Traded into a Glock, and it has three 17 length mags, two are the new ambidextrous mags, while one is the original "U" pattern mag which i do not believe is full metal lined. How can i tell if this is a pre ban mag? Or is there a way to tell? Haven't tried it out yet, may run to the range tomorrow.

What "ban" are you talking about?
In 1994 the "Crime Bill" banned the new manufacture of magazines greater than 10 rounds. Post-94 standard-capacity magazines (more than 10 rounds) that were manufactured for the police or military were marked as restricted/for law enforcement use only.
That 1994 ban expired in 2004, so there is no longer any "pre-ban" since there is no ban.
In some states, due to individual state laws, I believe "pre-1994" can still have meaning, is that why you are concerned about your magazines?
Is your question one about determining the date a specific Glock magazine has been manufactured?0 -
Just note, the "U" pattern mags are being sought by Glock collectors [;)] 0 -
In police work we threw the "U" mags away as soon as we could get fully lined mags. The "U" mags wouldn't drop free and required the officer to manually strip them from the weapon. It just added that much more time to a reload. 0 -
Here is what is listed on GB as "Preban" Glock Magazines.....should be able to compare your mags with those.
