Colt AR15 in 9mm
Never knew Colt made the AR-15 in 9mm. I was told they were Pre-Ban. Were there a lot produced? What are they worth?

I never could see how this rifle could be useful. I believe that the original concept (short barrel, select fire) made it good competition for the H&K MP5, as a law enforcement SMG. But, full size & semi-auto, why? Especially since it costs as much as a Colt AR in .223.
Maybe that's why they never sold a lot of them.

...and the select fire SMG's had serious magazine issues that I'm not sure were ever successfully resolved. The guns ran fine but the mags were a nightmare. If filled to capacity (32), or close, they would seldom seat properly with the bolt closed (hot reloads, etc), if dropped, they sprayed ammo like a fountain if anywhere near loaded to capacity. Nothing like being in a bad place, doing a mag change, ramming it home only to have it hit the ground 'cuz it failed to latch properly desdpite being rammed in, given a quick tug...you get the picture. We ended up switching to HK, one of the big reasons being mag issues. 0 -

The one I had ran fine with the four COLT mags I had [;)][^]0 -
I keep one here for a range rental and it has run tens of thousands of rounds and other than a cleaning every now and then I can't remember doing anything to it. It has paid for it's self several times over. 0 -

Dcs, maybe they got 'em sorted out-hope so. I was only referencing our experiences. We had 20 that ended up getting traded out because of that issue. The Colt rep came down several times and acknowledged there was a mag issue but really had no solution. We used all factory mags and replaced them several times without an acceptable resolution. From your experience it sounds like a fix was found. 0 -
The original ones used Uzi mags with a mag catch notch milled in them. Most of the current magazines are purpose-built for the AR and tuned accordingly. 0 -

I sold mine about 15yrs. ago. Shot it for five yrs or so. Got one mag with it and bought three new ones from a guy that had them.
All ran from the start [;)]
Had four 9mm carbines at the time. Sold the AR, Marlin. Kept the Uzi And Beretta.0
