50 Cal Heavy Brass Case Identification
I acquired a box of heavy brass cases and I'm trying to identify what they are used for. They appear to be a cartridge case of some type. They are 1.39" long, .655" o.d. at the mouth down the case for 1.25", then .575" o.d. for the remainder of the case. There is a countersunk pinhole in the bottom measuring about .035" in diameter. The case is .070" thick at the mouth. The case mouth i.d. is .510" in diameter down to a depth of .230", then it constricts for the remaining length of the case to .430" i.d. Any ideas?
I can't figure out how to upload pictures to this post, so email me and I can send you some. Thanks for any help!

Case length 50-50 Maynard 1882 is close. 0 -
The only one of the capping carbines, with a reverse taper construction. I can think of, is the Burnside.

If the case mouth, which acts as a gas seal, is like the picture shown by rufe-snow, they are reproduction cases for the Burnside carbine. Dixie Gun Works sells them and probably other black powder suppliers also. 0 -
Thanks for all the input guys, I think I narrowed it down to a 50 Smith Carbine. Appreciate all the help! 0
