Marlin 1893 25/36 Musket pics
Also posted this on GD. Still looking for information on it. I know it's pretty rare. My buddy picked this up the other day. He contacted the Cody museum. They had nothing. Waiting on a response from Marlin. Here she is, anyway. Acton is as smooth as buttermilk.

Its a copy and paste link, I don't understand why it doesn't work. When you put the cursor on the link the last "(1).aspx" doesn't light up, try coping the whole link onto your command line.
When I was kid, dad had a Lyman nickel plated loading tool with the attached bullet mold for the 25-36 M. I cast a lot bullets for use in a 25 Rem.0 -
Daniel,
That is really a cool gun.

Flayderman's Guide, has them in the 1893 Marlin section.
"Only 31 Model 1893 Muskets known to have been made" "Only 1, in 25-36 caliber".
The 9nt edition of the guide prices it at. "Very Good" = $3,250. "Excelent" = $5,750.0 -

Actually 1 of 2, now. Other one was made in 1900. This appears to be the one that has been unaccounted for. After 1906 Marlin records are almost nonexistent. They knew one musket went out after 1906 but particulars are (were) unknown. According to serial ranges this one was made 1907/08'ish.

LtCol William Brophy states in his booki "Marlin Firearms" that the 1893 muskets are extremely rare. He made note that only 31 are listed in the records. This rifle was listed in the catalogs from 1896 to as late as 1915. And only one was known to have been made after number 336301 which was a 32-40 made on February 13, 1906. As mentioned, your Buddy might well own the last made 1893 rifle!
Brophy quote: "The standard musket is 30-30 caliber; 30 inch round barrel, 7 shots (6 in magazine and 1 in the chamber); weight complete with sling strap and bayonet, 8 1/2 pounds; with bayonet removed, 7 1/2 pounds; Retail price, complete, $23.00."
The rear sight on your Bud's rifle has been replaced with a Winchester sight. The original sight was the military leaf type that folds flat for short range. Only one .25 caliber rifle shows up in the records and it was made on May 24, 1900.0
