    Unfortunately, that is the status quo for most of the smaller pocket pistols. The guide rod and spring stay in place when re assembled, but in reality, it is trapped between the frame and slide, to keep it captive, during operation. There is not much of a lip on the barrel/chamber boss to hold it there when tearing it down for cleaning.

    Glocks are like this also. The only thing holding the spring and the guide rod is the tension of the spring between the slide and a small notch on the barrel.

    The original S&W Model 39 9mm auto was like that, too.

    Only addresses "half" the problem, but you can get aftermarket guide/spring units stay together when they fly across the room.

    This is where it pays to disassemble with both hands and the firearm encased in a see through plastic bag !
