Anyone shooting the 300 AAC with 147g Bullets?
I've been looking at the 300 AAC aka Blackout. Easy to build an AR in one and am wondering if anyone is using the 147g mil surp 308 bullets with it? I have a bunch of these bullets and was thinking of economy. Also how do you like the round since you've shot it? Thanks.

Unless you intend to use it suppressed, with the 200+ grain bullets. I don't see the point. All it is, is the 7.62 X 39 East Bloc round, lite. Just another marketing scam, to separate you from your hard earned dinero.
When J.D. Jones designed the 300 Whisper it was specifically to fire 220 to 240 grain bullets subsonically. Because of the very fast twist barrel required. The lighter bullets, were accuracy challenged.
When the ammo companies jumped on the Blackout. The barrel twist had to be changed, so that the much lighter/faster bullets had a semblance of accuracy. This caused problems with the 240 bullet Jones used for the Wisper. They had to use lighter bullet. Believe that the commercial heavy bullet made for suppressor use, now weighs 210 grains.0 -

On the other hand, the 300AAC is cheap to load, amazingly accurate, and has low recoil and muzzle blast. While the ballistic profile is similar to the 7.62x39, getting there is totally different.
I haven't used the 147 FMJ bullets although I've been seriously tempted by some of the ammo available loaded with same. I found that my 1-7 twist barrel will shoot 150 grain bullets fairly well so would expect similar results with 147.0
