slinger,
These have been referred to as 'right hand actions in a left hand stock'
Many times lefties were left out in the cold as far as actions were concerned so many just order left hand stocks and used a right hand action. I currently work with two lefties who shoot right hands (right eye dominant) and two that use left hand stocks for right hand actions.

That was the common way left handed shooters used with bolt-action rifles (for actions other than Savage and Weatherbys). Short of having a Model 70 remade, a lefty would do that or adapt to shooting right handed. 0 -
My favorite was a 6.5 Swede, with the action upside down in the custom stock. It held 2 rounds in the shortened magazine. The sights were up on piers and the trigger was on a bar/cam arrangement. As odd as it look, the builder kept his family in meat with his left handed gun. Last I saw it, it was still hanging on display in the Placerville Id. General and only store.
My shooting buddy as a kid shot right handed rifles left handed. Much later I tried his left handed rifle right handed, not a lot of fun for a fast follow up shot.0 -
I shoot right handed bolt action rifles left handed because I'm left eye dominant - cross dominant shooter. The disadvantages were: 1) getting a stock to fit me comfortable - Classic stocks without or with subdued cheek pieces were my preference. Advantages: 1) strong right forearm holding the forend controlled the rifle better, 2) three position safeties mounted on the striker shroud were usually easier to operate with my left thumb, and 3) follow up shots could be taken by holding the rifle with left hand on the grip and using the palm of the right hand to operate the bolt - this took some practicing but the first shot was usually all that was required. I've also had a few left handed bolt action rifles and the one thing I disliked was carrying them across my back with a sling because the bolt knob always dug into my back. 0 -
