1895 Win butt trap

I have an 1895 SRC with a trap in the butt. It is empty and I was wondering, what, if anything, was in the trap when the rifle left the factory.

  I think a sectioned rod and a brush, or perhaps a string pull threw with a brush and oiler.

  The trap door in the butt was used for storage of a jointed steel cleaning rod only.
