    The * would be for full choke.

    Try the old standby. If a new dime will not go into the barrel it is a full choke.

    Put it on paper at 40 yards with a 30" circle using your loads and see what the % actually is.

    When steel shot became mandatory. Lot of the earlier full choke guns, were honed out to larger dimensions. I bought a very nice Model 12, a number of years ago. That had been honed from full, to improved cylinder.

    Duckhunter's dime trick will give a real fast indication, if the barrel is still full choke.

    Thanks for the help guys.

    Any info on why it shows up on the right side? Several references were very specific about the * being on the left rear, except for Magnums.

    Just curiosity/future purchases.

    Could be non original barrel to the receiver
