Correct antique tang sight for early Marlin 1893
I have a 50% deposit on a 1st year production Marlin 1893(#99554) in .38-55 98% condition, tight action, shiny sharp-edged bore.
What is the period correct antique marbles tang sight to add to this pre-1899 piece? Thanks.

In a Lyman tang sight you will be looking for one marked "J" or perhaps "JA". Be prepared for sticker shock.
A sprit level front globe sight too perhaps.

Vince,
Marbles did not make its first tang sight until 1903. If you want a correct period tang sight, it will need to be a Lyman.0 -
And a Lyman #1 or #2, no "A"'s. The "A" denotes a locking lever on the base.
Can you letter this Marlin? IMO, leave it like it came from the factory. 98% guns are rare.0
