1951 gun. Marked 300 Mag. H&H or Win Mag?

Never Mind. Found it. Wasn't sure when the Win Mag was introduced

A lot of those were re-chambered to .300 Weatherby and not all were so marked. No particular hazard to fire one so chambered with H&H cartridges but don't be surprised if the cases come out looking much different than they went in!

Since the only Magnum in those days was the H&H, the barrel just said 300 Magnum. I had a take-off barrel that I sold to a dealer for $15 and he almost dislocated his shoulder getting his billfold out of his pocket.

300 Winchester mag was introduced in very late 1962, there where only 4916 pre 64 model 70s in 300 Winchester magnum produced.
