The Lyman No. 1A and 2A sights were introduced in 1905.

I will not be in Reno for the August show, but should be there for the November show. We will have the new 4th Edition at the November show.

Thanks Bert, I'll pick up the book in November, Also how do you tell the difference between the 1A and 2A. Les

The 1A has a flip-down peep window, and the 2A has a screw in aperture disc.

I'm getting older and the eyes ain't what they used to be. I'm shooting muzzle loaders and I'm having trouble getting everything in focus. (Everything means rear sight, front bead and the target.)

How does the peep sight help. What it the optics explanation?

I checked Dixie gun works and Track of the Wolf and GunBroker and could not find them?

With a peep sight there is no need for sight alignment or individual sight focus. Simply look thru the hole, put front sight on target and fire. Also, the peep sight is mounted much farther back on the rifle, increasing sight radius.

    Peep sights work very well.

Center the tip of the front sight blade in the rear sight aperture.
