I have Savage 1899 takedown model in .22 Hi Power with a matched .410 shotgun barrel mfg around 1911. (New info says 1913) I can't find any information about the the shotgun barrel.
There is also a Stith scope mounted where the tang sight would go and the scope only has 1 ring holding it at the rear and is attached to the barrel at the front
Can any one offer any insight to this setup especially the shotgun barrel. Mainly could it have been purchased with the gun or was it only available at a later date.
Thanks in advance.

Per D.P Murray's book "THE NINETY - NINE" CASED SETS (.300 / .410) were introduced in 1922 and discontinued in 1934. .410 barrels alone were produced thru 1928. The 22 inch Featherweight fit Models F and the 24 inch fit Model G.
The 26 inch Standard Weight fit Models B and D0 -
The .410 barrel was a Savage factory option at one time. Blue Book does not mention it until 1920 so it may have been an add on.
Load it single shot, it will not run shotshells through the rotary magazine. It has a 2.5" chamber, shoot skeet loads not regular hardware store 3" rabbit loads.
The Stith mount was designed to install on iron sight holes and dovetails in an era before drilling and tapping for scope bases was common. A friend has one similar on a Remington 81 auto.0 -
There was a story of some guy shooting alligators with a 303 Savage 99 and birds with a 410 barrel I think was published in the 20's. He was some kind of professional market hunter. 0 -
The Stith mount alone would likely sell for over $150. 0 -
That is not what the OP is talking about, wallie. 0 -
