Winchester 61 question
Were any Model 61's produced with an octagonal barrel ?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks CharlieMeyer,
I looked on the auction side but didn't see that one. Didn't think to look at completed auctions [:I]

Here is one for sale. http://www.GunBroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=484256933
6 from completed auctions http://www.GunBroker.com/All/Completed/BCI.aspx?Keywords=winchester+61+octagon&Timeframe=10 -
There is one in my cabinet in 22 WRF, so I would say yes.
Incidentally, a factory barrel will absolutely be marked "Winchester" and "61".0 -
It's my understanding that the octagon barrels were used only on guns for specific cartridges like short, long, LR or WRF. I may be mistaken but I believe any 61 set up to shoot all three (shorts or longs or LRs) were round barrels. Also, by the time they started making 61s for WMRs they were only using round barrels. 0
