removing paint
from a pistol......got a colt 22 scout that a man with dementia painted gold yea I know....the barrel and cylinder is near perfect blue i got a lot off but its down in the trigger and hammer...then it looks like he took steel wool and tried to remove it... here is a pic..anything i can soak it in to get it off..thanks

Some lacquer thinner are "hotter" than others. Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEK) will eat cheap paint off instantly. Read and heed the MSDS. 0 -
Those frames are either aluminum or zinc-probably zinc.
This metal can not be blued in the conventional sense. Plating zinc is possible, but difficult. Painting it is probably the best option. I would soak it in paint thinner, and use nothing more abrasive than a toothbrush to clean the old paint off.
It may be the picture, but something looks terribly wrong with the cylinder finish.0 -
