I say according to information that is correct, that it is 1899. Very early in 1899. That is very important, to this rifle. It means it is not Antique status.

I am using the Red Book of Winchester values, 3rd edition. It was co-authored by one of our fine members, Bert H.

perry shooter, it is like a two edged sword, with the BATFE. They go by what ever they want it seems, which ever plays into their hand at the time.

The BATF does not use a different book. They use the information in the records at the CFM (which is what I used).

    #525810B. Anyone know?

It was the first one made on January 4th, 1899, and accordingly, it is not a bona fide "Antique" per Federal regulations. I will reiterate this... The BATF uses the exact same information (records) that I published.

The Blue Book is not a credible reference source for Winchester DOM information. I suggest that you use this link when attempting to determine a Winchester DOM - http://winchestercollector.org/dates/
