Remington 742 Question

I have a Rem 742 that is 280 cal. Can I put a 3006 barrel on it? I know the magazines are interchangable. Thanks for your help.

Not much.

You can buy those guns all day for $250 to $350.
Not a action/receiver too many gunsmiths are looking for.

Unlike a mint Mauser/ springfield/Rem 700/ Win70 and the such receivers, which are used to build custom guns, your 742 is only going to be a 742, never better.

IF you find someone that needs it, {highly unlikely, when they wear out, a new gun is bought} you might get $50 for it.

Yup, the receivers aren't worth much. Strangely, on that gun the barrels are the hard-to-find item that gets a premium
