Ruger LC9 alternatives
Have a buddy looking at the Ruger LC9 and he has asked me help him decide.
I would like to give him some other options to consider.
Must be a 9mm.
About the same size.
About the same price range or maybe a little less.
Personal defense is the goal.
Any suggestions?
thanks.

Khar cm9....hands down my favorite. 0 -
I familiar with most of the options and the Khar cm9 is easily the best of the "cheap" options. 0 -
Another vote for the Kahr. 0 -
Might want to look at the KelTec P11 as well; it's capable of using S&W 59 series magazines, trigger pull can be modified but is still DAO, compact/lightweight (but not as small/light as the P3AT), fits in a Levi's pocket unobtrusively, goes bang every time for me so far.
Ruger makes good stuff, own a few, but the LC9 is fewer rounds, less gripping surface, shorter barrel, and essentially the same action for another $100.0 -
S&W Shield, Glock 43 come to mind.
I can't speak with any certainty about the G43 as I live in CA, but my G42 hasn't missed a beat and I am switching from my PPK to the G43 for awhile as an EDC and they are both the same size.0 -
I would recommend the Diamondback 9mm. 0 -
I wouldn't be too quick to talk him out of the Ruger, I think its the best option at that price point. My only advice is at a higher price point, the Sign 938. 0 -
I'd stick with the Ruger. We have an LC9s and love it. Real good sights for a gun that size, nice smooth trigger pull, and far more comfortable in the hand than the Diamondback DB9. 0 -
Tell him to look at the Shield (a new one, not the first gen) . I think the Ruger is fine, but the shield works better for my hand and I believe it is a little thinner, 0 -
Kahr compact has the WORST trigger I've ever felt on a SD pistol. 0
