Does anyone like the Savage 110GXP3 with accutrigger? Thinking in getting one for hunting. Also, great website 0 -
Using Google images, locate photos of Savage 99's. Compare it to yours. 0 -
A good pic of the marking and the rifle itself would help. Direction for pic posting here. Make a junk email address first if you use photobucket. http://forums.GunBroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294 0 -
You may have a model 95. They were not marked with a model number. Were made by remington for savage. Pictures will tell. 0 -
The Savage Model 1895s were made by Marlin. 0 -
You are right sir. Don't know what I was thinking. 0 -
There is no model designation on the gun.. It says 30 cal on the barrel.. I am going to assume its a 300 savage.. Could it be a 30-30?? What is the 70-80 designate?? 0 -

The only way your going to SAFELY find out what the correct caliber is? Is have a chamber cast made by a competent gunsmith.
Without quality photos, and additional information. We have no way of helping you on the net.0 -
If it is a Model 95, it would not be a 300 Savage, or 3030, but a 303 Savage. Their version of the 30-30. That would be my guess...it is not the same as the 303 British, either.
You definitely need a chamber cast, unless we can get some detailed photo's, to see exactly what you have.0 -
You do not have a Savage 1895. I have one. The barrel has two lines in front of the rear sight.
SAVAGE REPEATING ARMS CO., UTICA N.Y., U.S.A.
PATENTED FEB. 7, 1893. JULY 25, 1893. CAL. 303
The serial number is under the receiver in front of the lever. Under the forearm is a JM in an oval since as said earlier the 1895 was made by Marlin.0 -
I think I figured out the caliber.. Got the magnifier out and looked at the cal designation.. It looks like the first 3 was struck lite and the second 3 was struck really hard to make it look like an 8 at first glance.. The serial number is correct... I found it on the furniture.. It is just 5 digits though.. With the last patent in July of 99.I'm going to assume it's a model 99.. Just doesn't say it any where.. It has an octagon barrel and it could really use a good cleaning.. The gun is really heavy.. 0
