    Your guns were made when General Recreation owned Ithaca. They called it "ithacagun".

    There is kind of an anomaly with early Ithaca 37's. Some years back, I had one with a serial number around 4,000, I figured it was a first-year gun, not that that would add to the value because it was in real average condition, but I was curious. The factory people told me that it had actually been manufactured in 1936. They said that they were anticipating the expiration of the Remington patents in February of 1937, and so they made around ten thousand 37's in late 1936, but didn't ship any until all of the legal t's had been crossed.

    After WW2, Ithaca was making 100,000 of these things per year. For what they go for used, I think they're the greatest sleeper ever.

    I have a 20ga 37 that dates from 1948.

    A very quick handling, slick cycling little shotgun.
