what rifle would match up with it?
Also what should I use on the leather to keep it from drying out.

Saddle soap will clean it. A tiny amount of mink oil worked in to feed the leather, then SnoSeal to waterproof it.

Looks like second from left M96 to me. If you are selling I would leave it alone ant let the buyer do what they want. The leather part is missing the tab to hold the metal sheath in place.0 -
Thanks Charlie. Looks like mine is the non rare later version. Time to start lurking on the auction side for rifles and ammo. This will be the first time I am planning to buy a rifle just because I have the bayonet.[:)]
No I'm not selling the bayonet, I wanted to match it to a rifle for me to keep. The auction listed isn't mine. I only posted it to show which bayonet I had. You are correct it is the second one from the left. Mine is in excellent shape with no rust, wear, or parts missing. The leather straps are getting a little dry and I want to keep it nice. I think I have some mink oil around here someplace.
That was a great link!0 -
These are for the m-1896, m-96/38 and m-38 swedish mauser rifles. 0
