22 jet
Can anyone tell me if you can rechamber a 5.6x33R rook to a 22 Remington jet. My research tells me that the pressures are about the same even a little less.

added Cartridges of the World says factory load for the Rook was a 65 gr bullet doing 1500 fps, the one reload listed was 60 grain bullet at 1600 fps powered by 5 gr of 2400. I load my Jet way hotter than that. The Rook was a black powder round, so I'd be wanting a good action capable of handling nitro pressures if I were going to re-chamber to the Jet. I haven't verified that the Jet will fully clean up a rook chamber.
Added I would buy the correct brass or perhaps make some and shoot it as a Rook. 0.030 short would be fine think 38 Special in a .357. I would want to do a very good chamber cast and compare that to my reamer, having a step in that 0.03 could be bad for accuracy.
During the great ammo shortage of late Hornady stopped production of the Jet 40 grain .222 bullets. I shoot mostly 45 grain cast bullets in my S&W 53. With the proper shell adapter I'd bet I could load Rook's with my Jet dies in the Lyman 310 tool. Resizing might be an issue if the chamber isn't near perfect.0 -
Thanks charliemeyer007 I did not realize that you could purchase 5.6x33 brass. If I purchase the gun I might just use it like it is, will not be shot much anyway. I had already looked at wikipedia for jet dimensions. I looks like every thing would clean up except the case length, it would be about .030 short (rook 1.31 jet 1.28). I don't know how that would affect accuracy or safty. What is your idea on this. I researched the pressures the closest thing I could find to the rook was the 5.6x35 vierling which was the origional inspiration for the 22 Hornet according to Cartridges of the World. 5.6x35v 39 cip and 22 jet 37 cip. 0 -
