Damascus?

How do you tell a gun that has Damascus barrels from one that has a Damascud pattern on the barrels? Would a bit of cold blue on a worn section help? Thanks!

  RadioShack use to sell it, FeCl3. I would think a good hand lens would work. A worn/polished spot will be free of the pattern of folds if it is not Damascus. Cold blue might work to show the different layer/hardness/composition.

  Remove forend and examine bbl underside where no wear, corrosion or finish exists.
