Depends on what chemicals you used. Some of them are real bad news, on not only synthetic, ( which is a euphemism for plastic). But the new finishes, used on wooden stocks.

Don't ask me what happened, when I got some Shooters Choice on a Remington stock[V]

It was a can of Winchester gun scrubber in the receiver of an O/U. It ran out thru the trigger guard and made a few lines. I thought about using some 600 grit sand paper. Since it is a black plastic stock it really doesn't matter much.

I'd be less concerned about appearance than structural damage.

As was said depends on what material the synthetic stock is made of. On the old Ruger 77II scalloped synthetic stocks I used Flitz metal polish. It worked fine in removing most of the oxidation and tarnishing and water marks. I believe I have used it on other synthetic stocks too.

Haven't tried it on a synthetic stock, but it would be safe to try Armor All (the care stuff).

Armor-All will make it slicker'n a snotty nose. Ask anyone who used it on a motorcycle saddle.

Most bore cleaners don't contain anything that would degrade structural integrity of a synthetic. A bit of Gun Scubber and cloth wipe down the entire stock. Eliminates todays issue and heads off tomorrows.
