Ranger Repeating Shotgun Model ??
Hello. I am really stumped on trying to get parts for a shotgun I just picked up. It is a 12 gauge pump shotgun and it called Ranger. The only information on the receiver is the words Ranger Repeating Shotgun. I can not find a model number any where. The serial number on it is 10414B. From what I have found so far it may be a Ranger model 30 or a Stevens model 520 or 520A. I really could use any help in what the correct model number it is so I can replace some parts missing. Numrich has been no help in ordering the correct parts unless I give them the correct model number and manufacture. I could also use any information on where I can get a real good scematic that is clear to read to see what parts and part numbers I need to order replacement parts. The scematic Numrich has is not real good and confusing. So please if anybody knows what I have in manufacture and model number for this shotgun I would really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks so much for your time.

A number of different companies, and retailers. Used Ranger as a Trade Name/Store Brand? Without quality close-up photos might be difficult to pinpoint which one.
The Stevens 520/620 series are the easiest to identify. Because they have a rectangular hole in the top of the receiver. Where the bolt locks up. As it goes into battery. Below is a photo of a 520. You can see the bolt locking recess, just above the ejection port.

Hello and thanks for the information. Yes my shotgun has the rectangular hole in the top of the receiver. My receiver looks jus like the one you posted. My receiver says Ranger Repeating Shotgun on the side in big letters. Question now how do you tell if it is a 520 or 520A model? The parts are a little different so far for each one. I need a cartridge stop with screw and ejector with screw. Any help would be appreceiated. Thanks so much again. Gary quote:Originally posted by rufe-snow

I forgot to say my receiver has a longer tang on the back that comes down over the butt stock. But still have the old Browning style hump back receiver style. Thanks.quote:Originally posted by rufe-snow

I've worked on several of these and suggest you hang this old relec on the wall. They made several parts changes along the way with no indication of which parts fit what ever shotgun. your shotgun was made for one of the catalog co's. (sears, monkey wards, ect) so getting parts is a 'shot in the dark' at best. 0 -

I got the following from one of the on-line crossover lists.
"Ranger Model 30, is the Stevens model 520A"
Take Mike's comments to heart though. Your shotgun is a "Store Brand" clunker, dating to the 1930's? Maybe even earlier? Trying to fix it. Is going to cost you, way more than you will ever be able to get out of it. IMHO.0 -
Hello
Thanks for the feedback. You are maybe right on just hanging it on the wall. I only need one part to make it workable again. It has real nice patina and is in great shape for how old it is. Right now it is just a wall hanger with the part missing. I will just keep my eye open if the part ever does come available to complete the old shotgun. I really thank you for the feedback and information. Any other information would greatly be appreciated. Take care.
