Raised Rib ?
I won an auction for a shotgun with a raised rib attached to the factory rib. I realize it's a poor time for me to ask, but what's the purpose or intention of this. It's a 20 ga. x 26" semi. I haven't taken possession of it yet but what's the chance it can be removed if I don't want it on there. Is it generally considered an improvement. Thanks

Without quality photos it's difficult to assess. From a collectors standpoint, anytime a firearm is altered from its factory original condition. It will negatively affect value.
Not so much for a field shotgun, used for hunting though.0 -
You have to consider the purpose of the gun.
For example, a trap model will usually have a monte carlo (high comb) stock & 2 beads on the rib. The choke will likely be in the MOD-FULL range. If the shotgun was original a field grade, it will have a normal stock & a single bead in the front; if you remove the added rib, there may or may not be 1 or 2 beads on the original.
Depending on the original design, & what you want it for, you may not be happy if you remove the rib.
