Needs some file info
I replaced the front sight on my Henry 22lr lever action, and it needs to be filed down. I am a nimrod regarding these matters. What type of file should I use. I know enough to go slow....

very fine cut machinist file but if it were me I might use a sanding block. 0 -
Some sights are hardened, and will ruin a file, those need ground.
Use a wide sharpie to mark your cutting surface, it will show you if you are not removing material evenly.
Practice on some scrap stuff first.
added Wow customer service that is nice to hear. I always like their one ad "A rifle you can swear by not at"0 -

You might call Henry,,,,,,
A friend of mine had one that was shooting 2' low at 100yds. with maximum adjustment for elevation. I called Henry and explained,,,,,,,,,,they sent me three new sights of varying heights, problem solved. No charge,,,,,,,[;)]
+1 they have excellent customer service, I had the same problem with a golden boy I bought used, it had no sights, I called henry and explained I bought it used and needed the price on new sights, they sent me a set of front and rear, free, and even after offering to send payment they sent me another e-mail and said, no, customer satisfaction was more important..0 -
The front sight is a replacement for a Skinner peep sight. Thanks for all the info. 0
