Rossi Hammer Nose / S&W
I have a Rossi revolver missing the hammer nose. Will a S&W hammer nose fit? Can anyone refer me to a website for Rossi parts? Thanks.

Make one. They look different to me but http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Rossi-33467/Revolvers-40393/89-38318.htm?results=All

Is it marked BRAZTECH?
Neal
EDIT: Try Mike at mmgunsmithing@yahoo.com
EDIT 2: Taurus will not even look at a Rossi unless it is marked BRAZTECH.0 -
Tried Numrich, Brownell's, and Midway. No joy.
Marked on left side of bbl:
Amadeo Rossi SA
Sao Leopoldo
Right side of bbl:
38 special
Right side of frame behind cylinder: Rossi circle trademark
Right side of frame under cylinder: Made in Brazil
I believe it to be an older Model 68. Looks like a J frame Smith.0 -
Anyone have any other input? Thanks. 0 -
I haven't had a claim to check it out, but I've been told that Taurus is servicing Rossi revolvers under their lifetime warranty. 0 -

IIRC, this is only true of the recent-manufacture Rossi revolvers. (IE Rossi and Taurus have a joint venture, where the current Rossi handguns are made by Taurus).
The new guns are labelled "Braztech", which is the name of the American importer of the guns in question. If it doesn't say "Braztech", Taurus isn't going to touch it.
I wouldn't count on much, but it wouldn't hurt to ask Rossi directly. If you're lucky they'll have spare parts, or at least know where to get some.

Thanks all. 0 -
I replaced a firing pin spur on a model 68 about a year ago. Got it a trade with the spur already acquired, but not yet installed. And I thought it would be a simple "pin in" operation. Not so much. The replacement still had to be contoured to properly fit through the pin slot in the frame. And then shortened to the proper length that ignited the primer w/o nearly puncturing it. Which would likely lead to premature breakage.
I don't know if the replacement I got was factory made. But IMO it would be only slightly harder to make one yourself and install it. Over using a the type of "replacement" I had. I still had to do quite a bit dremil work.0
