32 Police positive ammo

Im sure this has been answered before but here goes. I have twoColt 32 Police Positivesin very good condition , and my question is "Can any other cartridge safely be used in the gun , instead of the expensive and scarce 32 Police ctg."

  32 Police? Colt and S&W have always not liked each other. The question is what is the original chambering 32 Long Colt or the 32 S&W Long? What does the barrel say. If it is 32 Police that is Colts name for the 32 S&W Long. They just couldn't come to putting the S&W name on their gun.

  I think you will find that IF it is chambered in 32colt then a 32S&W case will not fit in the cylinder chambers.

  I have a 1940s vintage Colt Police Positive marked 32 police ctg.
  I've been shooting 32 S&W longs in it for 25 years.

  FMJ Remington .32 ACP ammo works just fine in my Colt Police Positive. Around here .32 Auto is easier to find than .32 Long.

  Is it the same for 38 Colt and the 38 S W ? I thank it is.

  .38 Colt is not the same as .38 S&W.
  .38 Colt New Police or .38 Colt Police Positive is the same as .38 S&W.
