357 maximum
Came across this in a auction and the guy said they are stamped 357 Max but they don't look like any 357 Max I have seen.
Here is his response:Sorry about the quality of my photos. These cartridges are definitely rimmed.
Using my cheap-o plastic caliper, the rim has a diameter of approx. 10mm and the remainder of the brass shell has a diameter of approx. 9.1mm
The shell has the following headstamp "R-P 357 REM MAX"

Recently I took a T/C Contender with a 357 Maximum bbl. on trade can any one tell me anything about this round? I do not have any info about it. The previous owner said it has ballistics close to a 44 mag. is this true? Was $380.00 a good deal for this gun 99 loaded shells and 36 empties, he also said the 36 empties are all this gun was shot. Thanks for any replies 0 -
Ruger made a handgun. 0 -
From what I understand, it was only the T/C barrels for their Contender pistols, and perhaps the Carbine barrels.
I would love to see it in a Marlin 1894, and/or a Winchester 1892. That would be a great little rifle.

Harrington and Richardson made one for awhile 0 -
I believe that cartridge is too long to work in a Marlin 94 or a Winchester 92. I have one of the old Ruger Blackhawks that were made for a short time. 0 -
The H&R Handi-Rifle, as Savage170 stated. A single-shot break-open design. 0 -
IRCC, the Savage 24 was available in 357Max\20 Gauge.
Also the Pachmayr Dominator was also chambered in Dan Wesson's version of the Max.0 -
Magnum Research Lone Eagle. 0 -
Not a rifle, I own a 10 inch Seville Stainless revolver in that caliber. I also plan to convert a handi rifle in 357 Magnum to Maximum soon. 0 -
I think Marlin may have seen the 357 Max as kind of pointless in a lever gun, as it would have required a long action and they already made a 35 Remington. 0
