I just can't help but chuckle every time I read that name...Kinda reminds me of a southern horror porno film or something[}:)]

Lot more common than the Kitty, is 22-243 Middlestead. Got to really know what you're doing reloading wise, with the way over bore capacity wildcat cartridges.

No reloading while watching the boob tube, or drinking beer with these cartridges. Or your first mistake, might be your last.[xx(]

    EDIT #1.

The useage I was familiar with, was catty wampus not kitty wampus.

I might be thinking of the .22-30/30 Imp. But was that called a Wampus Kitty or a Kitty Wampus?

I did do a die search and for $293 you can get actual Wampus Kitty reloading dies.

Kitty wampus is a term used in the midwest when I was a kid meaning 'not straight or not aligned' or slightly crooked....

That is a term I used in Nevada growing up too... Maybe the idea of naming it that is to say a cat knocked sideways? Most people where I'm from don't use overbore on the cats we hunted.

Needless to say it was not a SAAMI round, just a wild-cat...there's that cat reference again.... I wonder.....[:0]
