Will the extractor leave a mark on the rim of a 45acp shell casing? Just started seeing this with a new Kimber I bought. Was wondering if this is a problem. Thanks

Been showing up for the past couple of years .Supposedly it saves the ammo companies a fraction of a cent per case compared to the large primer .Which , if you produce millions of rounds per year soon adds up to real money You also see the small primer on some of the lead free primed ammo

The first ones were put in Lead free ammo for indoor shooting ranges . now some companies use for every thing

EDIT I did test in ransom rest as well as Crongraph I had to increase Powder charge .1 grain or.2grain to achive same velocity then I had same group size also. But if you run a progressive reloader like my Stars. you darn sure want to separate small from large primers when it comes to cases you are loading I give all my small primer cases to a friend that also loads 9MM and 38 Special on his dillon that way he does not have to change Primer punch and supply tube.

Anyone notice any effect on accuracy or round consistency?

I have some cases I must have accidentally picked up at the range and more that I culled out of a large brass purchase once I learned of their existence.

I have found that if I use the small pistol magnum primer the performance is just about identical. +1 to being sure you have them carefully separated for a progressive like the Star or the Dillon.
