Will It Fit On Mountain Rifle Stock?

I have a standard Remington M700 BDL in 35 Whelen caliber. How hard would it be to fit the barreled action into a .270 caliber mountain rifle stock. Is there enough wood there to allow a proper fit after sanding the barrel channel? Thanks for any suggestions.
