    RON1231,

Welcome to the forums here on GunBroker.com.

The first thing I will ask of you, is to please turn your caps lock off.

For your revolver building, the best conversionist, and custom builder in the country for these type arms, is Hamilton Bowen. He can be reached at this link.

    http://www.bowenclassicarms.com/

Secondly, it is a project only few have mastered by putting a 17 HMR barrel on an auto loader. They only seem to work well, when they are clean. I suggest that you shy away from that project, because of elevated pressures, and KABOOM's!, when the barrel is allowed to collect fouling.

For maintaining your collection, there are several good full service shops in the south/southwest part of the country, and Google search is your best friend to find them.

    EDIT 1

quote:Savage is coming out with their A17 semi auto 17 hmr in March...$465

and explains why they are the first to do a semi auto in 17 hmr.

That is not true, Volquartsen, and Ruger were the first sucessful manufacturers of Semi Auto 17 HMR's.

I'd imagine any good gunsmith is busy with waits of months, that may turn into years to get some projects done.

    Go to

    http://{elsewhere}/blog/savage-perfects-17-hmr-semi-auto-shot-show-2015/

where it says {elsewhere}..type in (gun s america . com)bunch the letters all together. This is just some previews from the shotshow and is not a competing auction site of GunBroker....why elsewhere?

The bolt needs to lock up on this little powerful cartridge to be safe.

Just putting a 17 barrel on a .22 magnum will not work.

A 25-20 wheel gun. A new cylinder and barrel (even with a liner) would be nice in a K frame S&W. As a kid I got to shoot a buddy's grandpa's S&W in 32-20. They were/are not rated for the factory 32-20 HV rifle loads, however I personally know it handled a few.

Have you thought of investing a final year student. There was a story about a guy that wanted left hand twist rifling. He bought the stuff to do it for new gunsmith and let him pay it with work.

Gunsmiths and firearms manufactures, nowadays are hounded by bottom feeding, blood sucking lawyers.

The only way your going to get any competent gunsmith, willing to get involved in your projects. Is to upfront agree in writing, to absolve them of all legal liability. If you don't agree to do this from the get-go, your SOL.

On your 25-20 project Hamilton Bowen is the best, not cheap but you will love his work.
