If you disassemble it for shipping make sure that you package it good. The part of the barrel that goes over the mag tube is notorious for wearing thru its packaging and wearing a spot on whatever it touches. IMO for $50 priority rate they could throw it in a cheap soft case.

I've got no problem with throwing in a case folded up with the gun.

It's been my experience that smaller packages suffer less damage than "gun length" packages.

I almost always buy a cheap soft case and throw the gun in it when I sell one. It is a heck of a lot easier to do that than try and bubble wrap and enclose it with other packing material. If nothing else, an old blanket works well too.

I'm glad that works for you, but I have trouble finding boxes big enough to ship a long gun.

My only less than A+ feedback as a buyer came from a seller who said it cost him $12 for a box to ship a Winchester 37A, a gun which breaks down quite easily but apparently he didn't think of that. [Then he sent the gun with no paperwork at all, giving my dealer quite a headache.]

I've had more than one gun come to me in two different boxes that were taped together. I've got boxes from many different gun shops for shipping as well. Most want to get rid of them, don't forget stores like Bass Pro or Dicks. But disassembly is not a big deal as long as they are well packed.

Try asking an electrical contractor to save you a few of the (gun sized) boxes that baseboard heaters and fluroescent lights come in.

It so happens I play cards with a electrician. Thanks for the idea.

Thanks to all for your replies (now totaling 10 and thread will be closed).

I'll have to think up some other question to get my sneaky plug in tomorrow. [:D]
