Better is a subjective term. It exists in the mind of the user.

Usually the later versions of any gun are "supposed" to be better since "improvements" have been made. Most of the changes between the gen 3 and gen 4 Glocks are cosmetic.

The 4's have the modular backstrap panels that can be changed for hand size. The recoil spring in the 4's is also different than the 3's and thus the slides on the 4's have an enlarged hole at the front to accommodate the larger guide rod end. The mag release on the 4's is larger than on the 3's.

There are a few other minor engineering changes between the two Gens, but as I mentioned many of the changes are cosmetic. I own both gen 3 and 4 guns and like both. In my estimation the better factor is just personal preference.

Simply put, you can't go wrong with either one. I have a Gen 3 that has close to 30,000 rounds thru it. It fits my hand well. I put a 3.5lb connector in it, and an extended slide release.

Accuracy??? It is accurate enough to call a shot on a coyote, between the eyes at 35 yards. Reliable...not one stoppage yet.

    Love it!

witch glock is better the gen 3 or gen 4 thank you

"Better" in what way? The two are far more similar than different and the majority of parts interchange between the two.

Biggest difference is just the grip. Gen 4 has adjustable-by-insert grips, a slightly different grip shape and a different grip texture.

Gen 4 also has a slightly extended mag release that's reversible (potentially good for lefties), uses a different recoil spring system, and has a slightly different internal construction to accomodate the new recoil spring.

Used Gen 3 might be cheaper.

If you like Glock pistols, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. If the question is which should you buy, IMO it mostly comes down to the grip. That's subjective and is going to depend on your individual anatomy.

If you have smaller hands, you'll probably prefer the Gen 4. For many it may not make any difference. If you're lefty, you may appreciate the reversible mag release. If you just want an extended mag release, you can buy a cheap aftermarket one and put it on any Glock.

Some say the new spring helps reduce recoil with .40SW loads a bit, and the design is supposed to reduce stress on the gun a bit. Personally I doubt you'll notice much (or even any) difference with a 9mm Glock.
