I have an FNP-45 as my go to home protection handgun.
Compared to an XD-45 (as an example) it feels like a pistol rather than a toy.
The decocker/safety is, IMO, a nice feature, and allows for the use of the long DA first trigger pull for added safety followed by the quick SA pull for follow-ups.
It is as accurate as the shooter aims it for any practical distance.
While nothing will replace the 1911 as the premier auto-loading handgun, the FNP-45 is a great second choice.0 -
I have all of the major maker designs, and consider the FNH FNX the pinnacle of design in a full-size pistol. (The H-K USP .45 is the closest competitor to the FNX.) The FNX has ALL of the features I prefer, to include being fully-ambidextrous and having a manual safety. (For a "house gun" and "carry gun," I demand a safety.) The sights and the ergonomics are excellent. The 15+1 capacity of .45ACP is an added bonus. (The H-K holds only 12+1 and the Smith & Wesson M&P .45 holds only 10+1.) I consider the Springfield XD-45 to be inferior to the H-K and S&W.
I choose the FNX for protection over ANY other full-size handgun design, including the exalted 1911-pattern pistols.0
