Cased Luger
We are looking at a gun collection that has a cased Luger in it and have never seen anything like it. 10 inch barrel with leaf sights and a checkered fore arm. Checkering matches the grips. No stock however it is cut for one. No place in case for one.Brought back by a Army Col. in 1946.Any ideas of where to go to for research and to put a value on it?

The only thing that sounds like what you describe is a ERMA 22cal Made from White/POT metal Not a military . The only 30 luger or 9mm Luger I know of with barrel any where near the length you speak is a 8 Inch but they did not have forearm. The only one with forearm also had a butt stock Like model 1902 Carbine.

Back to your question I have a number of books and used to collect LUGERS . I don't think you will find a 10 inch with forearm as any standard model but most likely a one off. these pistols had all kinds of proof marks and logo as to maker stamped in the pistol You need
some quality pictures of all markings for us to give you more help.
The forearm is mounted on a HANGER that is part of the frame NOT attached to the barrel as this will not function and not a part of any frame except on the carbine model that has a BUTT stock Pictures are a must.
editII Thanks Neal your pictures are a 1902 Carbine
but they had barrels over 10 inches almost 12 and in 30 luger
But one of your pictures show the Hanger as part of the frame0 -
This is not a Erma. I assumed it was a 9 but I know it isn't a 22. 0 -

Based on your description, we can only start to guess. Possibly it looks like this one:

But, neither this forum, nor anyone else, can give you much help without your posting high quality photos, especially photos that show all markings.
