Stith Mount
I have a set of Stith mounts that came off a 1948 Model 70. I believe these were installed on the rifle in 1952. Also have mounting screws and the scope rings that originally held a scope with a 22mm tube.
The rear sight has a flip up peep sight on it. Any estimate on the value?

I JUST AQUIRED A LYMAN ALASKAN SCOPE WITH A STITH MOUNT FOR A SAVAGE 99. I WANT TO REMOVE THE MOUNT FROM THE SCOPE, BUT IT DOES NOT SPLIT. IT APPEARS YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE SCOPE END OR ADJUSTMENT BLOCKS TO REMOVE THE BASE AND RING? ANY HELP?

I take it that you have a "master" mount that was made for non-adjustable scopes with the mount being adjustable? For some reason the "no gunsmithing" mount that uses the rear sight dove tail and the receiver sight holes seems to sell for more money. The master mount uses the receiver ring and receiver sight screw holes and to my mind requires less "gunsmithing". 0 -
Last I looked Stith mounts for Savage 99s were going at around $150 and that was several years ago. 0 -
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Stith mounts for Savage 99's are selling WAY higher than their equivalent for Win M70's. There is an identical mount to yours being offered WITH ORIGINAL BOX on another auction site for $10 opening bid and $50 Buy It Now with no bids after a couple days. I believe the Stith craze peaked a couple years ago. I sold a '99 mount in Old-New Stock condition in box for $550, and I doubt I'd get half that now.

A Stith mount for a Model 43 Winchester just sold on eBay for over $300.00. That was just the mount with screws. The scope that was originally used with this mount, went for over $400.00.
Don't count vintage things as obsolete....... I'll be 72 in a few weeks!
