Antique ?Flintlock? Gun Stock Cheek/Butt End Piece
Hello, I am trying to get information on a gun stock cheek/butt end piece. I do not know its origin/history other than my dad purchased it about 16 years ago and has been in the family ever since. Please find the photo links below. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

It was muzzle loader. Could have been anything from flint to cap. I get the feeling of American Civil War era. 0 -
That was part of a beautiful Kentucky rifle at one time. Post your pics at http://www.americanlongrifles.com/ and someone may recognize the maker. 0 -
I agree with that patch box "first picture" I bet Someone on the longrifles site will be able to tell you the maker.I think the last picture shows name of maker and I believe this had to be a flintlock FROM 1700'sEDIT Damn My brain was thinking one thing and fingers typed the other I agree owners name not maker .makers normally mark barrel 0 -

I also believe 18th century but the name is likely the owner, not the maker. Makers generally stamped their names on the barrel flat, not the wood.0 -
A friend of mine had a similar piece of a rifle and had Jim Chambers incorporate it into a reproduction rifle. Contact him at flintlocks.com for expert assistance. 0 -
Put your links into the format listed in the sticky and the pictures will show up. [ img] (YOUR IMAGE ADDY HERE) [/img ] 0 -
Thank you all for the advise! 0 -
A modern Kentucky rifle maker would pay very good money for that brass hardware. 0 -

I think this is excellent advice.
That brass hardware is incredible!! You could have one very special and unique heirloom built from that!
It would be pricey, but in my opinion worth it!!0 -
