No help from Mec Gar

Mec Gar makes a quality product. They make "factory" mags for a number of manufacturers.

I have used Mec Gar mags for years in a number of different weapons.

No manufacturer (that I know of) recommends the use of reloaded ammunition.

A week is no time to wait for an answer from customer service. Try giving them time to respond.

If a mag works with factory ammo but not with your reloads, maybe there is something off about the reloads. Use factory ammo or a different bullet profile.

If the reloads work in Kimber mags, use Kimbers for the reloads and Mec Gars for the factory loads.

Will Kimber not sell you more magazines?

You are, I am sure, aware that they have only 2 factories: both are in Italy.

The importer may or may not have forwarded your complaint to the factory. And, if so, translation & a technical response could take a while.

I've waited for an answer for over a week, so I'm here again for the Ateam.
bought two Mec Gar mags for a 10mm Kimber Custom Elite it shoots the factory ammo fine but the ogive is rounder on my reloads and binds in the Mec Gar mags while loading at the 4th or 5th rnd. severly, have to force anymore and the rest just fall out. My reloads function fine with the Kimber mags, other than buying factory projectiles I'm at a lost on what to do, also this was the only time I used these Mec Gar, the col was the same as the factory rnds and 180 grns

If you've contacted Mec-Gar by e-mail, and your e-mail to them reads the same as this post, I would not be expecting a response as they probably have no clue what you're talking about. The errors in your description here make it impossible to know what you're saying; if you cannot see the errors when you proof-read, have someone else proof read what you've written.

Also, understand that companies that post their e-mail address can be overwhelmed by spam; if you just contact them by e-mail -- and they're not expecting an e-mail from you -- your e-mail can be easily lost in the clutter. Sometimes it is better to call.

If you are reloading, you should have some actual dimensions about how your reloads are different than specific factory-loaded rounds. The dimensional differences with your rounds will probably be important in any discussion here, or with Mec-Gar.

Mec-Gar manufactures a lot of magazines for the major firearm manufacturers; I'm not sure if they manufacture for Kimber, but it is usually odd to find a Mec-Gar magazine that doesn't function like a factory magazine. Because of the quality associated with the Mec-Gar name, you will see unscrupulous people attempt to sell non-Mec-Gar magazines as such. You may want to have a few high-resolution photos of your magazine if you do contact Mec-Gar, as they may want to try to determine if the magazine is actually theirs.

+1 on both Nunn as well as HAWK CARSE . You have answered your own question.[?] DO you really feel that MEC GAR should redesign their Magazines when factory ammo works but not your reloads with non factory design bullets [?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?][?]

You might try seating your bullets deeper in some dummy cases until they work correctly. If it's only a few thousandth shorter you shouldn't need to adjust your powder load.

My first real good new pistol was a S&W 25-5 in 45 Colt. I ordered Elmer's bullet design from Lyman. After casting sizing/lubing and finally loading the new bullets, I drop 6 in the chamber. The new ammo looked nice but the bullets stuck out at least an 1/8 of an inch past the cylinder. Colt vs. S&W length. Had to get a different mold with the crimp grove moved closer to the nose.

As everyone above states, the trouble is your reloads, not the mags. Your bullets are most likely binding on the indented groove that "makes" a .45 mag into a 10mm or .40sw mag.
    see pic below.
Adjust your reloading dimensions or even try a .45 mag with the feed lips tweaked in a little.

Finally Two good replys, something to work with thanks Charlie & Babun. Wasn't trying to assess blame, Checked and triple checked measurements, couldn't figure out why it would start to bind after the 4th or 5th rnd loading it, any way Midway will make it right

I've had ogive & FP trouble with some of my 9mms.
Guns like Luger are very particular, other's shoot anything.
Meggar is top drawer. Mags take a beating in lightweight pistols
Meggar makes hardened magazines that don't dent up and deform.
I'd find the difference and alter the mag to match factory mags.
