German? Bayonet
I am trying to get information on a bayonet-I believe German? I do not know its origin/history. My dad got it many years ago. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Please find photos below. Any help will be appreciated. Regards.

Any markings on the blade? Especially the ricasso, right above the grips? 0 -
Looks WWI and well used to me. A pic with a tape measure for the over all length would be nice. A pic of the attachment groove would be nice.

The Germans were really fanatical about marking their military equipment during both wars. The early 98 bayonets would have had manufacturers and likely inspectors/unit markings.
Just because most sawbacks are German, doesn't mean yours is also. Specially without any of the markings noted above. It might even be from India or Afghanistan, fabed as a tourist souvenir.
I would go to GOOGLE images using "sawback bayonets" as the search term. See if you can find one similar to yours.0 -

1920 likely, would be to late a date for a sawback. Germans had problems with the brits, during the First World War regarding sawbacks. Lot of them were ground, and the Germans quit making sawbacks.0 -
Here are some more photos. Thank you for your responses. Regards.

Your pictures are of such poor quality and so huge, the bayonet cannot be viewed in it's entirety. Check out the procedures and advise on posting pictures. 0 -
