Winchester Wrangler question
Did the Wrangler come with either the "big Loop" lever and the standard lever or just the big loop?

added: I agree, not sure as I think all the ones I have seen were big loops. Some day I'll make my 94AE a full ring.0 -
That one says that it has an "over sized" lever but it sure looks like a standard lever to me. 0 -

I think there were two series, that get mixed up a lot. One was the Chuck Wagon, with the standard lever, but as far as I know, the only Wranglers had a big loop lever. Otherwise, they were identical.

I am certainly no expert but I have a "Wrangler" so I'm going to chime in.
If memory serves, the Wrangler was offered only with the big loop lever. The "Wrangler" was a "Trapper" with a big loop lever but everything else was the same so if it had a big loop, then it was a Wrangler and if not it was a Trapper.
Production was sporadic and just a few chamberings were offered. I think .32 special was the only caliber offered in the first run (1983?).
A couple of years later it was offered in .38-55 ('84-'85?).
In 1999, the Wrangler was offered in .30-30, 44 Magnum and 45 Colt. In 2000, the Wrangler and its distinctive Big Loop was again discontinued and never offered again.
I bought mine in 1999 and got a 30-30 and I will always regret not getting one in .45 Colt too. It is my favorite saddle gun because of the big loop and gloved hands.0 -
the rifle in the picture above has Wrangler stamped on the barrel but it has the standard lever, so is it factory or could someone have changed the lever? 0 -
If it is in 30-30, and marked "Wrangler IA", it is supposed to be the standard loop. According to my reference, the only one made in 30-30 is the "Wrangler IA". The other two Wranglers were the "Wrangler", made is 32 WSPL, and the "Wrangler II", made in 32 WSPL, and 38-55.
The Wrangler, and Wrangler II, both had oversized loops, from the factory.
There was also, a little later the Wrangler Large Loop, made in 1999, in 30-30, 44 mage, and 45 Colt.
There were 4 variations of Wranglers, all but the Wrangler IA had 16 inch barrels, and large loops. The Wrangler IA had an 18 inch barrel, and a standard loop and was chambered in exclusively 30-30.
