According to SCSW, all were "square butt, "N" frame". 0 -
thought so,..........so it has been?
thanks0 -
Looks like a nice round butt to me. I think 28's were all square butt.
cut and pasted "All HP's are sq. butt and all sq butt N frame grips will fit a HP.
All HP's have either a "S" or "N" prefix in front of numeric serial number - best place to find it is to remove the grips and look on the butt of the grip frame"0 -
N592xxxx....so why would someone do that 0 -
Because it was kewl at the time.
I had one done that way years ago and now regret it.0 -
To fit a smaller hand. It was a semi common thing to do, square to round. Look at L frames, K frame grip on a N frame so to speak. Lots easier to make an oversize set grips to fit a big hand, than undersized to fit a small hand. 357's shoot better if the grip fits your hand. 0 -
that N frame has been trashed , absolutely no collector value, un-shootable in this altered condition, PLEASE send it to me and I will care for it .[:D] 0 -
Are there any grooves left on the backstrap [?][?] 0 -
Newer N frames have round butts, but I don't think Smith is making Highway Patrolmans any more. 0
