Marlin 22 scope mounts
I've looked at various (sporting goods, gun parts, etc) websites, trying to find out if scope mounts would be the same on a Marlin model 60 and Marlin model XT-22. Receivers on both guns are dovetail grooved and they are both drilled and tapped. I know dovetail mounts would work, but, I'd rather not use that type of mount.
On ebay, a search for marlin 60, brings up mounts from a manufacturer who does not cross reference that mount to the new XT model. A search for Marlin XT, brings up mounts from another manufacturer, who does not cross reference that to the model 60.
Kwiksite and Wideview websites, lead me to believe they are the same mounts, but, neither site specifically says that.
Anybody know positively, that mounts for Model 60 will fit the new XT-22?

Call Brownells TECH dept. or go to a real gunshop and look at their weaver mounts look on the package they will list what each mount fits 0 -
Been to a "real" gun shop (more than one), looked on Brownells website along with Midway and a couple others. When I search for, or mention Marlin 22's, everthing and everybody points to the mounts made for dovetail grooves. I know they will fit both rifles, but, looking at other firearm forums, I see a lot of threads about dovetail mounts not holding and causing the scope to walk. I want to find mounts that screw onto the the drilled and tapped receiver. That's where the confusion is.
I've seen the packages. They don't say one way or the other, if they will fit both.
Even Marlin's own website has a scope mount chart, listing their various models and what scope mounts fit, the XT-22 is not on it.
I was hoping there was someone here who may have been through this already. Maybe my only option is buying mounts made by more than one manufacturer, and physically trying them.0 -
I have never had a dovetail grooved .22 mount slip or shift, ever. I have used only steel dovetail mounts. I even installed a dovetail grooved mount with 1" dia. rings and a long eye relief scope on the dovetail of a Russian Mosin-Nagant Model 1959 rifle in 7.62x54R (drive off the rear iron sight forward, the dovetail grooves which remain are about the same dimension as a common .22 grooved receiver and require no permanent modification or defacing of the rifle), and it held zero with no shift through many hundreds of rounds. 0 -
My marlin 60 has a dovetail scope mount on it and it has not moved for 15-20 yrs and a lot of that time was spent on tractors getting bounced around. 0 -
I have 3 Model 60s using either BKL one piece or Leapers UTG mounts from OpticsPlanet. Before getting those, my scopes would slide off rearward using Weaver style mounts.
Never need adjustment now.0
