Remington & Savage Stock Screw Spacings
I want to build either a Remington 700 or Savage model 10 tactical rifle. I need a Remington 700 rifle in 308 with a stock screw spacing of 6.500 inches. Is this their standard spacing??? Or a Savage model 10 in 308 with a stock spacing of 4.410. These are both SA stocks and both measurements are CTC. I'm starting with the stock before I find a complete rifle or action. I'm guessing I'll just dump the stock the rifle originally comes with.
And the bad news as well is it has to be left handed. I'm pretty much stuck with one stock manufacturer because they are the only manufacturer of the stock I want that's left handed

cut and pasted
"On a Remington 700? If the chamber size isn't known, or the receiver isn't barreled, measure the distance between the receiver screws. If 6.5 inches, it's a short action. Likewise, if the screw-to-screw distance is 7.35 inches, it's a long action."
"Savage short action - 4.28"
"Savage long action - 5.06"0 -
I have a older about 10 years old Savage Model 111 in 7mm-08 and it is a long action. So you saying all Savage SA have a stock screw spacing of 4.28 and all Remington SA are 6.5 ???? 0
