ok guys I need some help. Is it better to re-barell , put in a new trigger and new stock on a large ring Mauser Or but a new axis and upgrade it. I want to shoot f-class which is why the barrel upgrade is need. Thanks

  Buy a used F Class if you are on a tight budget. Buy a new one if not. I wouldn't put money into a '98 for a competition rifle.

  I would not build a F-class rig on either a Mauser or Axis action. At a minimum use a Savage 12 series action, their are many more parts available to make the 12 series shoot properly. Another choice would be to use the Savage 12 F-Class as a starter rifle, you can find one used for less then the cost of building a rifle:

  The other choice would be to purchase another guys former competition rifle, you can usually find those for a very reasonable price:

  One thing to remember about building a competition rifle is that you never want to go cheap on your build, doing so will end up costing you more money in the long run when you upgrade to a competitive rifle after a short period of time.
