AL5 is primarily a 20 and 16 gage powder. I have the Alcan data for using it if you need it.

I'd keep an eye on the loads listed for the 45AR. They look a little warm to me.

I ordered a Speer #8 manual off Ebay. Couldn't find anything in my old manuals. What is it going to tell me about primers? Small pistol or small pistol magnum for 38 Special? Large capacity probably refers to .44 etc? Maybe .357? Im anxious to load some up.

Assuming you are going to load light to moderate charges, I would go with the magnum primers. (it can't hurt) You should find a little greater shot to shot consistency. Al-5 is probably not the best choice for lighter loads, but it does very well with heavier bullets and powder charges toward the top end. (very clean burning too)
